Security Guard Services in Anaheim, CA

CAL Security Group posts unarmed, BSIS-licensed officers across Anaheim: hotels and parking lots in the resort area, convention and private event work, warehouses in Anaheim Canyon, retail centres, apartment buildings and construction sites.

Anaheim runs two economies at once. South of the 5 sits the resort district, where hotels, restaurants and parking operators live off visitor traffic to Disneyland and the Anaheim Convention Center. North and east, Anaheim Canyon is one of Orange County's larger industrial districts, where the tenants are warehouses, distributors and manufacturers with yards full of trailers.

Those two halves buy security for different reasons. The resort side buys crowd handling, lobby cover and lot control. The Canyon side buys gate control, yard rounds and an officer who checks trailer seals at 3 a.m.

The company works under a Private Patrol Operator (PPO) licence issued by the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS), staffing unarmed officers and nothing else. For event work, the licence matters twice over, since the venue checks it before your officers get through the door.

What the Anaheim Convention Center Requires From Your Security Vendor

Booking a show at the Convention Center means meeting the building's own staffing ratios and paperwork deadlines, not just hiring officers.

Requirement in the venue's event security guidelinesWhat it means when you book
At least one security or crowd control person for every 500 attendeesA 4,000-person show needs a minimum of eight officers before you add door, dock or overnight posts
One guard per 200 guests for outdoor events in the Arena or Grand PlazaOutdoor space more than doubles the count for the same headcount
An outside security vendor must hold a valid California PPO licenceCAL Security Group's PPO licence is searchable on the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) lookup
Proof of general liability insurance, workers' compensation, the PPO licence and a City of Anaheim business licence, at least 30 days before move-inBook the vendor a month out. Paperwork, not officer availability, is what usually runs late

Ratios and documents come from the Convention Center's published event security guidelines, and event managers hold to them. Send us the show dates, the expected attendance and whether any part of it sits outdoors, and the quote will show the officer count the building expects alongside anything extra your own floor plan needs.

Platinum Triangle and the Stadium Area

Honda Center and Angel Stadium turn the surrounding blocks over several nights a week in season, and the new mixed-use blocks around them keep adding residents. Event-date lot control and apartment garage patrols are the usual posts.

Anaheim Canyon

Warehouses, distribution buildings and manufacturers north of the 91, running shifts around the clock. Gate control, driver check-in, trailer and seal checks, and yard rounds between rows after dark.

Downtown and the Packing District

Center Street, the Packing House and the surrounding blocks fill in the evening and empty late. Officers here work doors, patios and the parking structures people walk back to.

What Security Costs in Anaheim

Unarmed guards in California bill at about $22 to $40 an hour on the open market, event work included. That number is not our rate; it is the range the market publishes. Anaheim adds one wrinkle that no other Orange County city has.

  • Most Anaheim employers sit on California's minimum wage, $16.90 an hour in 2026
  • Measure L sets a living wage of $21.13 an hour from January 1, 2026 for hospitality employers of 25 or more in the resort districts that take a city tax subsidy
  • Tips and service charges cannot be counted toward that Measure L rate
  • Event officer counts start from the venue's own ratio, then add your doors, docks and overnight posts
  • Hours do the rest: 168 a week for round-the-clock cover, 84 for a night post, or a shared patrol billed per visit

Whether Measure L touches your property depends on your own subsidy status, which is a question for your operator, not your guard company. What it does mean is that two hotels on the same street can carry different labour costs, and any security quote that ignores that is guessing. Our event security cost guide and general cost guide break the ranges down.

FAQ

Anaheim Security Questions

How many security guards does an Anaheim Convention Center event need?
The venue's event security guidelines set a minimum of one security or crowd control person for every 500 attendees, and one guard per 200 guests for outdoor events in the Arena or Grand Plaza. Those are minimums. Extra posts for docks, back-of-house doors, registration and overnight equipment cover sit on top.
Can we bring our own security company into the Convention Center?
Yes, with paperwork. An outside vendor needs a valid California PPO licence, general liability insurance, workers' compensation cover and a City of Anaheim business licence, filed at least 30 days before move-in. Tell your event manager which vendor you are using, and start that process a month out rather than a week out.
How much does event security cost in Anaheim?
Unarmed officers in California typically run $22 to $40 an hour each, on event dates and standing posts alike. That is a published market range rather than CAL Security Group's rate. Attendance sets the base officer count through the venue ratio, then hours, outdoor space and overnight coverage decide the rest.
Do you provide armed guards in Anaheim?
No. CAL Security Group staffs unarmed officers only. Carrying a firearm on duty in California requires a BSIS firearms permit as well as a guard card, and we do not staff those posts. Hotel lobbies, event doors, warehouse gates, retail floors and construction sites are ordinary unarmed work.
Does Anaheim have its own minimum wage?
Only for part of the city. California's $16.90 an hour covers most employers, while Measure L sets $21.13 an hour from January 1, 2026 for hospitality employers with 25 or more workers in the Anaheim or Disneyland Resort districts that receive a city tax subsidy, with tips excluded from that rate. It affects labour costs on the resort side of town.
Can you cover a warehouse in Anaheim Canyon overnight?
Yes. A Canyon post is usually gate control plus yard rounds: drivers and visitors checked in, trailer and container numbers matched to paperwork, seals looked at, and anyone walking the yard contacted and logged. Where a site is empty at night, logged patrol stops often cost less than a standing officer.
Are your Anaheim officers licensed?
Yes. Every officer holds a BSIS guard card, which requires fingerprints through the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI plus 40 hours of training: 8 hours before the card is issued, 16 within 30 days and 16 within six months, then 8 hours a year. Written confirmation of our licence and insurance arrives before day one.
Do you cover the rest of Orange County?
Yes. Officers work across Orange County, including Santa Ana, Garden Grove, Orange and Fullerton, along with Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Ventura counties.
