The Founder

Who Runs This Company

Chaudhry Younus founded CAL Security Group and still runs it. Younus served in the U.S. Air Force and has spent 24 years in the security industry, with a background in strategic planning and crisis management.

Those two phrases get printed on a lot of security websites as decoration. Here is what they change about how this company works.

Strategic planning is why post orders get written from your property instead of from a template. Before an officer works a post, someone walks the site and decides what normal looks like there. Which doors should be locked by 7 p.m. Which gate the delivery trucks use. Which stretch of fence is dark. When the building empties out. An officer who knows what normal looks like notices when it changes. An officer working from a generic sheet does not.

Crisis management is why the escalation ladder is written down before anything happens. Every post has a decided answer to four questions. What does the officer handle alone. What gets a supervisor on the phone. What gets 911 first and a phone call second. What gets you woken up at 3 a.m., and what waits for the morning report. The common failure in this industry is not a guard asleep in a car. It is an incident where the officer was not sure who to call, and forty minutes went by while they decided.

The Air Force part matters for the same reason. A briefing before the shift, a debrief after it, and a written record either way.

Why We Exist

Why This Company Exists

Chaudhry Younus is active in community associations and in veterans' causes. That is not a line for a website. It is the reason the company is built the way it is.

Younus is in rooms with property owners, board members, and neighbors who live with the results of this work. If an officer on one of our sites does the job badly, the complaint arrives in person, from someone who will be at the next meeting.

A security company can be run at a distance. Guards get placed, invoices get sent, and nobody with authority ever walks the property. This one is not run that way, and the reason is that the person who owns it lives and works here.

How We Operate

How We Operate

The quote

It starts with a free walk of the site. The quote that follows is written and broken out post by post, so the overnight gate and the daytime lobby each show their own hours and cost.

Post orders

Every site gets a written document before the first shift. It sets out what the officer does, the patrol routes and when they are walked, the order of calls when something happens, and the things the officer is not authorized to do. Officers are briefed on it before they work the post. You get a copy.

Supervision

Field supervisors visit posts during shifts, unannounced, to confirm the officer is present, in uniform, and working the route.

Shift reporting

A written report reaches you after every shift. It carries the officer's name and guard card number, the post, time on and time off, each patrol round with the time it was completed, and any incident with the time it happened and what was done. Vehicles and visitors are logged where the post calls for it, maintenance or safety problems are noted, and photos are added where they help.

Dispatch

Dispatch answers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so an officer on post reaches a person rather than a voicemail box, and so do you.

The owner

Escalation does not stop at a supervisor. If something goes wrong on your site at two in the morning, the chain ends with Chaudhry Younus.

Licensing

Licensing and Accountability

Company license

CAL Security Group Inc. holds a Private Patrol Operator (PPO) license from the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS). Every company supplying guards for hire in California has to hold one. Ask any firm you are considering for proof that its licence is current, and check that the name on the licence matches the company you are contracting with.

Officer screening

Every officer is registered with BSIS and carries a guard card. Registration requires fingerprints submitted to the California Department of Justice and the FBI, and the criminal history check continues after the card is issued.

Insurance

State law will not let a patrol company keep its license without a general liability policy of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence on file with BSIS. A certificate of insurance naming you goes out before the first shift, and the licensing page explains what to check on it.

Limits

What We Will Not Sell You

Armed posts. CAL staffs unarmed officers only. Carrying a firearm on duty in California takes a separate BSIS firearm permit, and that is work we leave to companies set up for it.

Alarm monitoring. Watching alarm signals from a central station requires an Alarm Company Operator license, which is a different license from ours. What we do is respond to alarms and handle lock-ups as a patrol company, alongside whatever monitoring you already have.

Posts we cannot supervise. A post that a supervisor cannot reach is a post that drifts. If your property sits too far outside the counties below for that, we will tell you so before you sign anything.

Coverage

Where We Work

Our office is at 1208 W Jefferson Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90007. Supervisors and patrol vehicles work out of that address.

We cover Los Angeles County, Orange County, San Bernardino County and Ventura County, plus the San Fernando Valley, for commercial and residential clients. Every city we work is listed on the service areas page. If your property sits outside that footprint, call and ask. We will tell you no if we cannot supervise it properly.
