Security guard services in Orange for the bars and shops on Main Street and at Pacific City, hotels along Pacific Coast Highway, Huntington Harbour homes and the industrial parks off Bolsa Avenue. Officers are unarmed, licensed by the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS), and briefed on written orders for each site.
Orange holds two things most Orange County cities do not. One is a genuine historic downtown: the Plaza district was listed on the National Register in 1982, and the wider Old Towne district, roughly a square mile of it, followed in 1997. The other is a hospital cluster, with UCI Medical Center on The City Drive South and Providence St. Joseph a few minutes away, running around the clock.
Add Chapman University's roughly 9,800 students and an open-air outlet centre with more than 120 stores, and the city produces four different kinds of security work inside a short drive.

Apartment security →Warehouses, service yards and distribution buildings spread along the 57, 55 and 22 rather than in one belt. Gate control at shift change, yard rounds after dark, and logged checks of trailers left overnight.
Warehouse security →Large lots, equestrian property and trails, with some parcels inside the city and some in unincorporated county territory. That split decides who responds, which is worth knowing before an incident rather than during one.

The ordinance exists for one reason: false alarms pull patrol units away from real calls, and a repeat address can have police response discontinued. Having an officer answer the alarm first is the practical fix: the officer checks doors and windows, cancels a faulty sensor, and calls Orange Police only when there is a real entry to report.

Unarmed guards in California bill at about $22 to $40 an hour on the open market, published market data rather than CAL Security Group's rate. The City of Orange sets no minimum wage of its own, so the wage floor is California's $16.90 an hour in 2026.
The shape of the job matters more than the hourly figure. A row of Old Towne merchants sharing one walking officer pays a fraction of what each would pay alone. A medical building buys the hours around shift change rather than the whole night. A construction site runs heavy while material is exposed and light once the doors lock.
