Who We Are

Protecting Your Property with Trained Security Professionals

A security guard service puts a licensed officer on your property to control who comes in, patrol the parts a camera or a locked gate cannot cover, deter theft and trespass, and write down what happened on every shift. CAL Security Group does that work for businesses, job sites, apartment owners and homeowners across Southern California, with unarmed officers, mobile patrol, fire watch and event staffing.

The company was founded by Chaudhry Younus, a U.S. Air Force veteran with 24 years in the security industry and a background in strategic planning and crisis management. Anyone can put a body at a gate. Deciding where that gate gets watched from, what the officer does at 2 a.m. when something happens, and who gets called first is the part that protects a property. Younus is active in community associations and veterans' causes, and he is reachable.

Vision

A guard company you can check before you sign: the license on the public record, insurance in writing, and a report after every shift that shows the work was done.

Mission

Put a licensed, briefed officer on every post we accept, supervise that post, and tell the client in writing what happened on it. If we cannot staff a post properly, we say so before you sign.

About CAL Security Group
Licensing

Check the license before you hire anyone

CAL Security Group Inc. holds a Private Patrol Operator (PPO) license from the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS). Ask any company you are considering for written proof that its licence and insurance are current before the first shift. Do the same with every company you are comparing.

Company license

Any business supplying guards for hire in California must hold a Private Patrol Operator license from the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. A guard card is not a company license. Some outfits show you one and hope you cannot tell the difference.

Guard cards

Every officer must be registered with BSIS and carry a guard card. Registration requires fingerprints submitted to the California Department of Justice and the FBI, and the check continues after the card is issued.

Training

Guard card training is 40 hours: 8 before the card is issued, 16 within 30 days of starting work and 16 more within six months. After that, every officer completes 8 hours of refresher training a year.

Insurance

California requires every licensed private patrol operator to carry at least $1,000,000 in general liability coverage per occurrence (Business and Professions Code Sections 7583.39 and 7583.40). A certificate of insurance naming you goes out before the first shift.

You do not have to take any of this on trust. The record is public, the search is free, and a company that hesitates when you mention it is telling you something. Our licensing page has the rest of our compliance detail.

Security Services We Provide

CAL Security Group staffs everything from a single officer at a front desk to patrol routes that cover several sites a night. Each service runs on written post orders for your site and ends every shift with a written report.

Why Choose Us

Why Choose Us

Most of what separates one guard company from another is whether the basics happen on every post, every shift, and whether you can check that they did.

High Quality Service

Written post orders for your site, officers briefed on them before the first shift, and field supervisors who visit posts unannounced.

24/7 Support

The dispatch line answers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at (323) 792-3061. An officer on post reaches a person, and so do you.

Written Records

A report after every shift with the officer's name and guard card number, time on and off, each patrol round with its time, and anything found.

Expert Team

Every officer holds a California guard card, has cleared the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI fingerprint check, and trains to the state's 40-hour standard.

Industries We Serve

Protection for every industry

CAL Security Group staffs posts at many kinds of property, including corporate buildings, hotels, apartment complexes, construction sites, shopping centers, warehouses, hospitals and clinics, school campuses, auto dealerships and parking structures. The post orders change with the property: a hotel lobby and a solar farm need different officers doing different things.

Why Local Matters

Benefits of Hiring Local Security Guards

A guard company based in the same region as your property can supervise the post in person, knows the area, and covers call-outs and missed shifts without a long drive.

Faster Response

An officer or supervisor based in Southern California reaches a post, an alarm call or a missed shift without a cross-state drive. Distance is the first thing that slows a response down.

Knows Your Area

Local officers know the freeway corridors, the traffic at shift change, and the theft that is common in each area, from cargo in the Inland Empire to package theft in the Valley.

Licensed & Insured

Every officer holds a BSIS guard card, and the company carries the general liability coverage California requires of every licensed patrol operator.

Visible Deterrence

A uniformed officer at the gate or on patrol changes what a thief or trespasser decides to try, and the incident that never happens is the cheapest one to deal with.

Cost-Effective

An hourly post often costs less than one break-in, one stolen load of copper wire or one fire code violation.

24/7 Support

The dispatch line answers day and night, supervisors check posts on overnight and weekend shifts, and the shift report reaches you after every shift.

How We Work

We make security
simple & efficient

From the first call to the first shift, the work runs in the same order every time.

Choose Your Service

Call or email with the address, the hours and what worries you about the property. We will say which service fits, and which does not.

Make an Appointment

We walk the property with you: entrances, blind spots, lighting, fence lines and where deliveries come in. Bring any incident history. It tells us more than the floor plan does.

Approve Your Quote

The quote is written and broken out post by post: hours per week, hourly rate and total. Before the first shift we write post orders for your site and brief the officers on them.

Officers on Post

The officer works the post orders, a supervisor checks the post, and a written report reaches you after every shift with patrol rounds, incidents, visitors and maintenance problems.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What drives the cost?
The hourly rate covers the guard's wage plus payroll taxes, workers' compensation, liability insurance, uniforms, supervision, and dispatch. Wage is the largest piece and pulls the rest up with it. Overnight, weekend, and holiday hours cost more. In California, unarmed guards typically bill $22 to $40 an hour, whatever the post. Be careful with a quote well under everyone else's. It usually means the guard is paid off the books, is not properly registered, or is not insured, and all three become your problem.
Are your guards licensed?
Yes. Every officer holds a current California BSIS guard card and has been fingerprinted through the Department of Justice and the FBI. The company holds a Private Patrol Operator licence from the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services.
How fast can you deploy?
It depends on the post. A daytime lobby position in Los Angeles fills faster than an overnight post in Ventura County on a Friday. Call with the address, hours, and start date and we will tell you what we can honestly staff.
Is there a contract?
Ask for the terms in writing, and whatever the term, read the cancellation clause before you sign. That is where the surprises live.
What reporting do I get?
A written report after every shift: officer name and guard card number, time on and off, every patrol round with the time it was completed, any incident with the time it happened and what was done, and maintenance or safety problems the officer noticed.
Armed or unarmed?
We staff unarmed officers. In California an armed guard needs a separate BSIS firearms permit on top of the guard card, plus range qualification, and the liability picture changes for you as the client. Most commercial, residential, and HOA posts do not need one.
