Los Angeles Air Force Base and Space Systems Command sit at 200 N Douglas Street, Mattel runs its global headquarters at 333 Continental Boulevard, and the Chevron refinery takes up much of the west side. Those buildings hold people from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and almost nobody after that. The security work follows the gap: car parks and structures that stay full during the day and sit dark by 8, loading doors on quiet streets, and a downtown of small businesses that close early.

An empty office park is not a quiet post. It is a post where nobody else would notice a problem for twelve hours.
Parking structure rounds at varied times. Levels walked on no fixed pattern, with vehicles that sit jacked up or low logged with plates.
Perimeter and door checks. Roll-up doors, side entrances and roof access points checked and written up when they are found open.
Contractor and delivery control. After-hours arrivals signed in, escorted where the post orders say so, and signed out.
Trespass contacts, logged. Anyone with no reason to be on site is asked to leave, with the point of entry noted so it can be closed.
Lighting and gate faults named by location. A dead light over row C or a gate that no longer latches is what creates next month's incident.
A written report before the shift ends. Officer name and guard card number, times, rounds and every incident with the action taken.
El Segundo requires an alarm permit, gives you three free false alarms in a calendar year and charges an escalating fee after that, with a separate penalty for running an alarm system without a permit. The amounts sit in the city's police fee schedule, and the rules themselves are in the municipal code's burglary and robbery alarm chapter. Officers who answer alarm calls with your keys and codes keep that count low, since most activations turn out to be a door, a sensor or the wind.
Filming is a second local rule worth knowing. El Segundo runs its own film permit process through the city, and productions using the streets, Smoky Hollow buildings or a corporate campus usually need security at the perimeter of the shoot. We work to whatever the permit and the location manager set.
On rates, unarmed guards in California bill at roughly $22 to $40 an hour on the open market, published market data rather than CAL Security Group's rate. El Segundo has no city minimum wage of its own, so the wage floor is California's $16.90 an hour, below the floors in Los Angeles, Santa Monica or Pasadena. Hours and posts decide the rest: 168 hours a week for round-the-clock cover, 84 for nights only, or a shared patrol route billed per visit. The cost guide lists ranges by property type.
