Where We Stand

No Published Reviews Yet

There are no verified reviews of CAL Security Group to show you today. We will not write reviews ourselves, paste in client quotes we cannot source, or put a star rating on this page that nobody gave us.

When clients do post reviews, they will appear on our Google Business Profile and our Facebook page, under the reviewers' own names. Until then, this page does something more useful. It shows you how to check a security company when its reviews are thin, suspicious or missing, and every check on it works on us.

What Reviews of Security Companies Miss

Most reviews of a guard company come from the person who signed the contract, often in the first few weeks. They describe the sales call and the start-up. They rarely describe the fourth month of overnight shifts, which is where guard service goes right or wrong.

When you read reviews of any company, give weight to:

  • Specific properties and posts, not just "great service"
  • Accounts of a missed shift or complaint and how it was handled
  • Company replies that deal with the complaint instead of arguing
  • Dates spread across months rather than a burst in one week
  • Reviews from officers about how they are paid and supervised

How to Vet a Security Guard Company

Check the company license

Search the business name on the Department of Consumer Affairs license search and choose Private Patrol Operator under the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS). The status should be current and the licensed name should match your contract. The licensing page walks through the search step by step.

Confirm the insurance with the broker

A certificate of insurance is a snapshot taken on the day it was printed. The agent or broker named on it can confirm the policy is still active and that the limit is at least the $1,000,000 per occurrence California requires of patrol companies.

Ask what the shift report contains

Ask each company to show you the format of its shift report, blank or redacted. A report with a time for every patrol round and a plain account of each incident tells you more about daily service than any review.

Call the night number at night

Ring the company's main number at 2 a.m. on a weekday. Ours reaches a dispatch line that answers 24/7. Whoever picks up, or fails to, is who your officer will reach on a bad night.

Ask how a no-show gets covered

Every company has officers who call out. Ask what happens at 10 p.m. when the overnight officer has not arrived, who finds out, and who fills the post.

Ask who owns it

Any company should be able to name its owner and tell you how to reach that person. CAL Security Group is owned and run by Chaudhry Younus, an Air Force veteran with 24 years in the security industry.

After You Hire

Keep Checking in the First Month

Vetting does not stop at the signature. The first month shows whether the paperwork matches the post. During it:

If something on a CAL post does not add up, call (323) 792-3061 and ask for the owner.

Clients

If You Are a CAL Client

A review helps the next buyer more than it helps us. If you have used CAL Security Group, a short Google review that names the kind of property and says what went well, or badly, is the most useful thing you can write about us. Put the criticism in too.

The details worth including are the ones a buyer cannot get from us: the type of post and the shifts it ran, whether reports arrived and were accurate, how a problem was handled when you raised it, and whether you ever saw a supervisor. A rating on its own tells the next property manager very little.
