Retail crews target the Americana at Brand and the Galleria, dealership lots hold millions in inventory behind a chain-link line, and the hillside streets above them lose catalytic converters overnight.
Glendale Police Department has said its catalytic converter thefts happen mostly during overnight hours in residential neighborhoods, from cars parked on the street or in unsecured lots. That is a patrol problem, not a guard-at-the-door problem, and the two get priced differently.

Healthcare security →Honolulu Avenue's shops and restaurants close early and sit dark, and the residential streets above them are where cars get worked on overnight. Lock-up rounds for the businesses, patrol passes for the blocks around them.

Glendale requires a permit for any alarm system that calls police or fire, the permit expires every June 30, and false alarm fines start at the second one in a permit year. Running an unregistered system is the expensive version: the first false alarm on an unpermitted address costs $361, which is what a registered address pays on its fourth.

Fees published on the Glendale alarm program fee schedule, with a $50 non-refundable fee to appeal one. Glendale Municipal Code Chapter 8.12 adds the rules behind them: audible alarms have to reset themselves, with sound capped at 15 minutes on a residential system and 30 minutes on a commercial or industrial one, and repeat offenders reach "special assignment" status where the city recovers personnel and equipment costs on top of the fine.
An officer with your keys and codes gets to the property, sorts a real entry from a faulty contact, and calls Glendale PD only when there is something for them to do. Three avoided false alarms cover a lot of patrol stops.
Unarmed guards in California bill at roughly $22 to $40 an hour on the open market, which is published market data rather than CAL Security Group's rate. Glendale has no general citywide minimum wage of its own, so the floor under most posts is California's $16.90 an hour in 2026.
Hotels are the exception, and it is a large one. Glendale's Hotel Workers Protection Ordinance ties hotel worker pay to the Los Angeles hotel rate, $25.00 an hour from July 1, 2026, and requires panic buttons for hospitality workers along with limits on workload and forced overtime. A security post inside a Glendale hotel sits in that world, so it quotes differently from a post at a dealership two miles away, and your post orders should say who answers a panic button and how.
